HCS tenants as well as residents of the surrounding neighborhoods may take advantage of the programs and also participate in fundraising events to help offset a portion of the costs that may be involved with some of the activities, such as the summer camps. The HCS commitment to enriching and preserving the quality of life extends beyond the provision of a secure home environment. Each property’s Services Manager coordinates and facilitates a number of supportive programs designed to: promote economic independence; provide access to social service resources; offer community-wide activities and many other services. Programs, for adults and youth, may be administered in the setting of an on-site Community Learning Center, several of which have earned the HUD designation as a Certified Neighborhood Networks Center*.

These opportunities vary from one property to another and may include:

After school programs, such as tutoring and arts and crafts.

  • Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and other clubs.
  • Youth programs, including an annual summer camp.
  • Community education programs, such as GED and other classes.
  • Social services resources and referral assistance.
  • Recreational activities.

HCS tenants as well as residents of the surrounding neighborhoods may take advantage of the programs and also participate in fundraising events to help offset a portion of the costs that may be involved with some of the activities, such as the summer camps. This kind of cooperative effort brings people together, united in a common cause, and serves to additionally support the HCS mission to impart a real sense of community and mutual respect among its members.
